Resize a photo and signature for MPSC

Photo pixels128 × 160
Photo allowed range125–130 × 150–170
Signature pixels128 × 55
Both under50 KB

MPSC states a range rather than a single figure. The photograph may be 125 to 130 pixels wide and 150 to 170 tall; the signature 125 to 130 wide and 50 to 60 tall. Both must stay under 50 KB and both must be JPG or JPEG.

Take the middle of the range, not the edge

This page uses 128 × 160 for the photograph and 128 × 55 for the signature — comfortably inside both bands. Building at 125 or 130 sits on the boundary, and because encoding rounds the final dimension by a pixel, a file made at the edge can land outside the allowed range and be refused.

The file name will stop you before the size does

MPSC rejects a file whose name contains spaces or special characters, and its own instruction page gives an example of a correct name. A file arriving from a phone is called something like WhatsApp Image 2026-09-07 at 9.21.45 PM.jpg or IMG_20260907_142233 (1).jpg — spaces, dots, brackets. Rename to photo.jpg and sign.jpg before uploading.

The error you get does not mention the name, which is why people spend an afternoon compressing a file that was already the right size. The file name guide explains it in full.

Do not reuse a photo from another portal

An Aaple Sarkar photograph is 160 × 205 and will not fit the MPSC range. An MHT-CET photograph is 413 × 531 and is far too large. Each portal needs its own file, though one good original photograph will serve them all.

Check before you lock the profile

The MPSC profile can be submitted and locked, after which changing the photograph is difficult. Open both files at full size and look at them properly before pressing Submit and Lock — a blurred face or a stretched signature is much harder to fix afterwards than before.

The exact requirements as printed on the portal, with the signature specification alongside, are in the MPSC size guide.

Frequently asked questions

What is the MPSC photo size?

125 to 130 pixels wide and 150 to 170 pixels high, under 50 KB, in JPG or JPEG. Building it at 128 x 160 keeps it clear of both edges of the range.

What is the MPSC signature size?

125 to 130 pixels wide and 50 to 60 pixels high, under 50 KB. It is landscape, unlike the photograph.

Why does MPSC reject my photo when the size is correct?

Almost always the file name. MPSC refuses names containing spaces or special characters and does not say so in the error. Rename the file to photo.jpg.

Can I use my Aaple Sarkar photo for MPSC?

No. That photograph is 160 x 205 pixels, which falls outside the MPSC range. Make a separate file from the same original photograph.
