| Requirement | Value |
|---|---|
| Stated size | 3.5 × 4.5 cm |
| In pixels | 413 × 531 at 300 dpi |
| Photo size | 5 – 100 KB |
| Signature | 413 × 177, 2 – 30 KB |
MAHACET states its requirement in centimetres while your computer shows pixels, and that mismatch is where most of the confusion starts. The conversion depends on resolution: at 300 dpi, the standard for scanned documents, one inch is 300 pixels and one inch is 2.54 cm.
3.5 cm is 1.38 inches, which at 300 dpi is 413 pixels. 4.5 cm is 1.77 inches, which is 531 pixels. The signature at 3.5 × 1.5 cm works out to 413 × 177. This page uses those figures.
The photograph must be larger than 4 KB and smaller than 100 KB. The signature must be larger than 1 KB and smaller than 30. The lower bound is the one that catches people: a signature is a simple image, compresses to a few hundred bytes, and is then refused for being too small while the message sounds like it is too large.
The signature limit is also strict in the other direction — 30 KB is a third of what the photograph is allowed, so keep the signature image simple and tightly cropped.
MAHACET runs LLB three-year and five-year, MBA and MMS, MCA, B.Ed and M.Ed, engineering, pharmacy, agriculture, hotel management and architecture admissions through the same portal, and the photo and signature requirement is the same across all of them. One pair of files serves the whole season — make them once and keep them.
Requirements do change between years, so read the instructions in the red box on the upload page each time rather than trusting a file from a previous admission.
3.5 × 4.5 cm is the standard passport photograph size in India, so a print from any studio is already the right proportion. It still has to be brought to the right pixel size and kilobyte range, which is what this page does.
The full requirement as printed on the portal, including the signature, is in the MHT-CET guide.
3.5 x 4.5 cm, which at 300 dpi is 413 x 531 pixels. The file must be larger than 4 KB and smaller than 100 KB.
3.5 x 1.5 cm, which is 413 x 177 pixels at 300 dpi, between 1 KB and 30 KB.
Yes. MAHACET runs those CAP admissions through one portal with the same photo and signature specification, so one pair of files covers them all. Read the instructions on the page each year in case they change.
Yes. 3.5 x 4.5 cm is the standard passport size in India, so the proportion is already correct. It only needs to be set to the right pixel size and file size.
